Uppma Virdi the Indian native in Australian land was chosen as the “Business Woman of Australia” in year 2016. It was a surprise for everyone because no one has thought that selling tea in foreign land could be a good business there.
Uppma offers many teas under her brand name “The Chai Walli”. She tells that-
Her grandfather Dr. Pritam Virdi was an ayurvedic doctor. He used to make herbal tea in his dispensary. There she learnt how to make herbal teas.
According to “The Chai Walli”, Chai and Indian are inseparable. For every occasion tea is the must necessary thing be it the happy moment of life or a sad moment.
But it’s not the same her in Australia, you can hardly find a shop or place offering you a good tea which can make fresh your mood.
And here the idea to start a Tea Shop sprouted in my mind.
Uppma is lawyer by profession, but also runs her tea shop at the same time. In the time she has got a recognition among the Australians who were finding the alternative to coffee.
Through tea she is spreading the aroma of Indian Culture among the Australians. She also runs a workshop, “the art of chai” where she teach peoples how to make a good tea.
